Biography
Robert Ian Goodman is a practicing lawyer with a concentration in commercial domestic and international litigation, business law, immigration law, employment law, and international trade law. He is principal attorney of Goodman Law, a sole-proprietorship, based in Westchester County, New York and is co-director of Choudhury-Goodman Immigration and Commercial Law Affiliates, an affiliation between Goodman Law and H. Taufiq Choudhury, P.C., a New York City based law firm concentrating in immigration law. Mr. Goodman has represented companies as litigation counsel and has experience in the areas of negotiation, mediation, arbitration as well as trial and appellate work on the state and Federal levels. He also provides consulting services to law firms in the areas of international commercial law and immigration law.
Mr. Goodman currently serves as corporate counsel to a number of developing businesses and counsels investor groups. Mr. Goodman graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Tufts University, Medford Massachusetts, with a BA in International Relations and is a 1990 graduate of the Columbia University School of Law. He is currently a member of the Westchester Bar Association, the World Trade Council of the Westchester County Association, Westchester Network Partners, and the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association.
Mr. Goodman is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the District of Columbia as well as in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a sponsor of the award winning educational website - InternationaLawHelp.com - along with Howard Schiffman, Esq., Clinical Associate Professor of Global Affairs at New York University, and is currently involved in developing an internet forum focusing on the study of International Diplomacy and Politics.
Mr. Goodman was formerly director of the International Center for Law Trade and Diplomacy, which promoted education in international law and politics, and formerly was co-director of the Foreign and International Law Committee of the New York County Lawyers' Association where he assisted in developing several successful international law related educational programs, including the Committee’s Summer Research Internship for Law Students in International Law and Human Rights.
