Practice Areas

GOODMAN LAW provides legal services in six practice areas, which are described in brief, below:

Corporate Law and General Counsel Services to Foreign and Domestic Start-Up and Established Businesses.
Goodman Law puts a lot of emphasis on being able to draft agreements and corporate policies and develop corporate controls and formalities that are comprehensible to clients. Goodman Law has been involved in everything from working with parties to start up their businesses, to negotiating their agreements, to fraiming intellectual property and trade secrets protection programs, to consulting with businesses on developing employment manuals and grievance procedures, to formulating plans of action designed to achieve business goals while reducing the risks of litigation and regulatory conflicts. Goodman Law's corporate law experience is informed by its long-standing involvement in litigation practice, which makes it possible for Goodman Law to anticipate and address many legal issues before they come to pose serious litigation-risk problems.

International and Domestic Business Litigation. In the United States, litigation can take time and be very expensive while yielding often disappointing results. But sometimes a business has little choice but to use the courts or arbitration tribunals to vindicate its rights or defend them as against another party. Goodman Law has been involved in providing domestic and international litigation services to businesses for 17 years. GL has run the litigation gamut - from performing risk analyses for clients who are intent on evaluating litigation options, to representing plaintiffs and defendants in negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations, to conducting trials and arguing appeals. In the course of its work, Goodman Law has entered into collaborations with other law firms with special skills and expertise.  The firm has particular interest in representing foreign businesses, which are often less experienced in managing litigation risks in the U.S forum.

Employment Law Consultation and Litigation. As a result of Goodman Law’s experience in representing business clients in the capacity of an outside general counsel, it has become very familiar with the range of laws confronting employers in the areas of discrimination and wage law. In particular, Goodman Law has experience dealing with employment law related issues in an international context where sometimes the application of foreign law and even proceedings before foreign tribunals are involved. As part of its practice, Goodman Law has represented both employers and employees in the contexts of negotiations and litigations. While Goodman Law has counseled employers regarding how best to deal with their work force policy in order to minimize disruptions and risk of litigation, Goodman Law has also represented employees who are engaged in a separation process with their employer or who are confronting work related problems impacting upon their legal rights. For foreign clients interested in expanding their businesses into the U.S. marketplace, Goodman Law's experience in dealing with employment issues from the standpoints of both the employer and the employee can be very helpful in the shaping of effective and fair employment policies and practices.

Intellectual Property Law Consultation and Litigation. As a consequence of its work with technology companies, Goodman Law can provide counsel in the areas of trade secrets and intellectual property ("IP") protection, including address matters involving the registration of trademarks and/or copyrights. Goodman Law also works with a variety IP specialists, including specialists in the area of patent law.  IP litigations would involve one or more specialists depending on the complexity of the issues involved.

Immigration Law. With the view to promoting the interests of its domestic-international clients, in 2005, Goodman Law affiliated with the Business Immigration Law firm of H. Taufiq Choudhury, P.C., based in New York City, to form the marketing vehicle - Choudhury-Goodman Immigration & Commercial Law Affiliates ("C-G"). C-G has been a successful alternative to the traditional immigration law partnership by allowing Goodman Law and H. Taufiq Choudhury, P.C. to collaborate on joint immigration projects in a flexible and cost efficient way. Since 2005, C-G has helped businesses address the immigration needs of their foreign employees and foreign entrepreneurs to enter and maintain themselves in the U.S. in order to develop their U.S. business interests.

International Trade Law. Rounding out its international practice focus, Goodman Law has initiated a new international trade law practice area, which focuses on helping clients work through disputes arising in the international sales of goods contexts and counseling clients on U.S. export laws, including, but not limited to INCOTERMS, the U.S. Export Administration Regulations and other related export control laws.
